Happy Mother's Day

We hope everyone had a fantastic Mother's Day! Our day was very full and we enjoyed seeing everyone:) We began our day at church where I received this...

Our Pastor told a great story about how as mother's we shouldn't be judged for taking time for ourselves (within reason ladies). If that means primping then so be it. Primp away! I will be the first to tell you that fixing my hair, putting on make-up, slipping into a cute dress minus milk and/or jelly stains with an even cuter pair of high heels makes me feel liberated. Now don't confuse this with materialism. It simply means that sometimes freshening up makes us feel like the beautiful women that we are. He also followed it up with an excerpt from Lieutenant Colonel Mervin Willett Gonin DSO, who was among the first British soldiers to liberate Bergen-Belsen in 1945. It is a story about a women only camp in Nazi Germany. Soldiers went into the camp where the women were begging for food, clothing, warmth and medicine. Someone then asked for lipstick. A soldier relayed the message about lipstick and a shipment of ruby red lipstick was brought in. They say that as soon as the women put on the lipstick they instantly felt better and managed a smile even in the dire conditions they were in. He described it as pure unadulterated brilliance and genius. It gave them back their humanity. Our pastor gave us the lipstick in remembrance of them and to remind us to perk up even when we are having "one of those days". If you want to read the full excerpt that the Lieutenant said you can find it here.

I also received these lovely plants from Kate Grace and JT.
Kid made gifts make me smile:)
Kate's words, JB's writing.

Mom was going to have lunch with Nana so we drove out to Fort Worth to meet the crew for lunch.

We rushed back to Dallas to enjoy Mother's Day with the Brew Crew. We are NEVER hungry when we leave there:) We also had a nice funeral and tree planting ceremony for JB's dog Bruiser. Bailey said a wonderful and sweet eulogy in remembrance of her. She has to be the most thoughtful 12 year old I have ever met. Bruiser was a momma too and we even have 2 of her babies Bella and Lola :)
Bruiser with Kate when she was a baby. She used to ride her like a horse:)

I also wanted to share a "blast from the past" photo...

This is from my senior year of high school which was 8 years ago. I have certainly changed since then but my Momma is still rockin it! She hasn't aged a bit! Sick. Of. It.
